This is a website made on Neocities in html and css. It is coded by hand, which is rare these days. For many, being online used to be a curatory and archival practice.
This is what Olia Lialina, a net artist and historian calls "the many to many principle." Many people sought to expose many more people to personal, historical, and most importantly creative parts of the web. It was less streamlined, less standardized, and much messier. But maybe that's how things should be.
